This book is written for two reasons. First, my good friend would suggest it almost every time I told a story when we were hunting in our deer blind or château, as he calls it. Secondly, I have a pretty good memory of all the things I have done and accomplished in my life, and what better way to document it for our grandchildren than to put it into book format? This book walks through my journey from job to job, describing details of what I did, how I did it, and why I did what I did and, in many cases, why I chose to go on to something different. I never expected a job to be so wonderful that I would be thrilled every day to go to work. However, I did try to find happiness in everything I did, and when that wasn't happening, most likely, I went looking for something new. From sweeping the floors in our bar to washing dishes in our cafe, to pumping gas at our gas station to building kitchen cabinets, to constructing fences around oil rigs, to drilling holes in geophysical search of oil, my early years and jobs were about as varied as can be. Later on, I would manage retail shoe repair stores, sell groceries, manage a hardware store, and volunteer for military service in the US Naval Reserves and US National Guard before finally landing on computer science as the base that would take me into retirement. The details of all the stuff in between these listed career choices is what make up this book. During my fifty-one jobs and fifty moves, I struggled with my relationship with God, sometimes blaming him for my problems and questioning his perfect plan quite often. To this day, I still don't understand that plan but accept that God has a plan for me. My reckless life choices could very well have ended my life along the way, and that is partly how I learned to accept God's plan for me. How else could I still be here today, happily married, with our combined children and six wonderful grandchildren?
